My day today has consisted of playing Battlestar Galactica and Bang! at work.
And getting free Krispy Kremes and free pizza for lunch.
And having a surprising few amounts of crises to deal with (er, at the office, not in Battlestar).
And tonight I get to go to the movies and tomorrow is the next session of Legacy.
Yeah, today is kinda cool.

| heat, cold, kitties |
[18 Dec 2009|10:31am] |
Still haven't turned on the heat this year. Would prefer not to, but I guess I should give the registers a good vaccuum just in case I end up leaving Mer home alone for a couple days over the holidays.
I would prefer not to because they don't put out much heat for all they raise my electric bill. (I really can't feel a difference once I'm more than two feet from the heaters.)
Bought an electric blanket two weeks ago and have been using it sparingly. It's quite nice. I like to keep it on a low setting for an hour or two and just take the chill off, but last night is the first time I had it turned up higher and on for the whole night. Brr. Quite crisp.
Doesn't help that there isn't heat in my car and so, I'm getting home already well-chilled.
One thing I love about the cold weather is how it brings out the cuddlebeast in Mer. <3 Though, I'm not entirely crazy about her newest trick. For months now, she'd stopped doing the tap, tap, tap with the paw to wake me up. But now, she's discovered that when she's perched on my hip, it's one simple stretch to tap, tap, tap my mouth with a huge kitty paw.
Mer, I know where that paw has been!

Man, I should really update this thing more. Anyway, I know I should be asleep now, but I must share this. This screencap is not edited aside from some cropping, shrinking, and a little sharpening:

Thanks woekitten and lbd_nytetrayn, I got the package today! So much stuff! Thanks so much!
I'm feeling a bit bad now because it's looking more and more like I'm going to be late with your guys' stuff for this year... But BD, I did get that Noid shirt for you today! I'll try to send it out soon.
Among other things, they sent me a special bundle of New Super Mario Bros. Wii! Can't wait to try it out!!

Haven't posted a lot of the little guys lately namely because A) the apartment is still in progress, and B) We seriously have no lighting in here like at all. We're still working on getting some kind of central lighting going but the downside is, photography indoors is crappy, especially when it's been overcast like it is. But! Today I gave it a go. Marcus, Fenhua, and a little bit of Haelee and Jaejuk.
( There is no light in this apartment. :( )

Well, for starters, I'd dump the fucker for disrespecting my boundaries and privacy enough to read my e-mail without asking! (Or alternately, for demanding that I show him/her a month's worth of e-mails.)
If this is actually a thing that bacon_fiend has done or has had done to him/her, then that's fucked up.

The new, up-and-coming furry media website Weasel Wordsmith has posted two new articles today, both of which happen to involve me and my writing!
First up is an audio interview with kyellgold and myself. We talk about our participation in the upcoming "Cupcakes" novella series, and also about our upcoming novels (Shadow of the Father and The Seventh Chakra, respectively). Then we also get into some more general discussion about our works and the state of writing in the fandom in general.
There's also a novel-specific preview piece that's gone up as well. I talk a little more about the book's plot and setting, which I hope tantalizes y'all into wanting to take a look. (And hey, I'm apparently not just better than Stephenie Meyer, I'm much better than Stephenie Meyer. Hawt.)
Do go check them out!

I'm kind of a sucker for "free" stuff so I had to go to Best Buy and take advantage of their Sherlock Holmes Xbox 360 movie bundle deal. It includes a ticket for the movie and a downloadable outfit for your 360 avatar, and it's free when you buy certain Xbox Live items.
So now my 360 Mii has a Holmes outfit! And a Santa hat and shades.

With just over a month to go before the release of The Seventh Chakra, I'm going to start putting out a few more teasers and previews out there for folks. I'm starting to hear a lot of nice buzz already, just from folks online and people at cons, which makes me happy.
To start, then, I'm happy to share with you the book's cover, as seen here:

The talented kamui has returned as my cover artist, and I have to say that I think he did a spectacular job with it! (You should probably tell him that yourself, though, which you can do over here).
My hope is that, in addition to looking gorgeous, it makes folks wonder just what the heck the deal is with the imagery used. My hope is that it's interesting and compelling enough to be a good draw, while making a lot more sense once you've read the story.
Obviously, folks can't do the latter part of that, yet, but I hope it's at least still really pretty and attention-getting!

| Viva Pinata |
[14 Dec 2009|09:59am] |
So I'm not sure why, but late last week I got back into the old Xbox 360 game, Viva Pinata (the first one). When I first got it as a Christmas present, I played for what I thought was a good long while. But going back now, I feel like I barely played it at all!
I'm told the sequel (Trouble in Paradise) fixes a lot of the problems with the first game. That sounds cool!
BUT YEAH SO I SPENT NEARLY THE ENTIRE WEEKEND PLAYING A 3-YEAR-OLD 360 GAME
